Vegetarian Summer Gathering at Grafton, NY State Park

GRAFTON, NY: The Berkshire Vegetarian Network, in conjunction with the Albany Vegetarian Network Inc., hosted an all-vegetarian potluck/gathering/picnic at the beautiful Grafton Lakes State Park on Sunday, June 28th, 2009, starting at 11:00 AM. The event featured fun, food, music & speaking, including; Animal Communicator/Singer/Songwriter, Susan Hamlin, Nationally Recognized Raw-Vegan Athlete, Tim VanOrden, and Radical-Pacifist, Vegetarian Musician, Barry Hyman.

Grafton Lakes State Park has an entry fee of $7.00 per car load, which includes all the amenities of the park, including the use of "New York's best freshwater beach," boat rentals, and 25 miles of hiking trails, for the entire day. For further information on the park, including park regs, click here.

The public is invited to the Vegetarian Gathering, which takes place under the shelter at the "Rabbit Run," lakeside, at Grafton State Park. Each participant is asked to bring a VEGAN entrée (a dish free of all animal products including dairy and eggs) to feed 10 people. A suggested contribution of $5.00 per person is asked to offset rental costs, with any surplus monies donated to the Berkshire Vegetarian Network and the Albany Vegetarian Network Inc. to support New York's Capital Region Vegetarian Expo taking place in Saratoga Springs on September 19th, 2009. The Potluck dining will take place from 12:00 noon. Attendees should bring their own plates, utensils, and serving ware. Coolers and comfortable lawn chairs are highly recommended, otherwise, seating is at wooden picnic tables.
