The Expo is the first in the Capital Region area to bring together and promote the global health benefits of green sustainable living, environmental awareness, and compassion for animals and all beings while highlighting their relationship to a plant-based diet.

Keynote Speaker
George Eisman, Registered Dietitian — Founder of the Association of Vegetarian Dietitians and Nutrition Educators, and co-founder and first Chairman-Elect of the Vegetarian Nutrition Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association. He has taught nutrition at the college and university level for over 20 years. He is the author of The Most Noble Diet; Don't Let Your Diet Add to Your Cancer Risk, and A Basic Course in Vegetarian and Vegan Nutrition. In 1993 he was inducted into the Vegetarian Hall of Fame by the North American Vegetarian Society.

Vegetarian Summer Gathering at Grafton, NY State Park
GRAFTON, NY: The Berkshire Vegetarian Network, in conjunction with the Albany Vegetarian Network Inc., hosted an all-vegetarian potluck/gathering/picnic at the beautiful Grafton Lakes State Park on Sunday, June 28th, 2009, starting at 11:00 AM. The event featured fun, food, music & speaking, including; Animal Communicator/Singer/Songwriter, Susan Hamlin, Nationally Recognized Raw-Vegan Athlete, Tim VanOrden, and Radical-Pacifist, Vegetarian Musician, Barry Hyman.
Grafton Lakes State Park has an entry fee of $7.00 per car load, which includes all the amenities of the park, including the use of "New York's best freshwater beach," boat rentals, and 25 miles of hiking trails, for the entire day. The public is invited to the Vegetarian Gathering, which takes place under the shelter at the "Rabbit Run," lakeside, at Grafton State Park. Each participant is asked to bring a VEGAN entrée (a dish free of all animal products including dairy and eggs) to feed 10 people. A suggested contribution of $5.00 per person is asked to offset rental costs, with any surplus monies donated to the Berkshire Vegetarian Network and the Albany Vegetarian Network Inc. to support New York's Capital Region Vegetarian Expo taking place in Saratoga Springs on September 19th, 2009. The Potluck dining will take place from 12:00 noon. Attendees should bring their own plates, utensils, and serving ware. Coolers and comfortable lawn chairs are highly recommended, otherwise, seating is at wooden picnic tables.

We just held a semi-formal, all-vegan dinner to support the Albany Vegetarian Network Inc. and our annual New York's Capital Region Vegetarian Expo! Many thanks to our volunteers, speakers, sponsors and donors for making this event possible!
